3. CM Punk

When you hold a company and its world title hostage, you’ve earned yourself some serious clout. When that company is the powerhouse that we know as WWE, you become one of the greatest wrestling presences ever.

That’s what slots CM Punk so high on this list.

Easily the most memorable feud of Punk’s storied WWE career came against his polar opposite: John Cena. And Vince McMahon. And in reality, the entire company.

Punk’s contract was coming to a genuine end and, up until the 2012 Money in the Bank pay-per-view, he was ready to leave. The issue: he was the No. 1 contender to Cena’s WWE Championship.

As the match neared, everyone in the industry knew how big this was. And then the pipe bomb happened.

Some people love the promo. Some have heard so much about it that they can’t help but say it’s overrated.

Regardless of how you feel, it’s the promo that solidified Punk as an all-time great in WWE.

On top of that unforgettable feud, Punk also took his straightedge lifestyle to WWE television. He started the despised Straight Edge Society and put on a brilliant feud with Jeff Hardy in a drugged vs. cleansed storyline.

Punk left in an unfavorable way, but his legacy remains intact.
