WWE: Top 10 Heels of the Past 10 Years
6. Randy Orton
Don’t get too caught up in what you’re seeing right now. Randy Orton wasn’t always The Authority’s forgotten son or a cowardly heel with no substance beyond his hit-and-run antics.
In terms of his legacy, Orton is a Hall of Famer. Nothing short of it.
That all started with two words: Legend Killer.
Orton took on one of the best personas in recent WWE history, fighting and defeating some of the company’s most storied competitors. Whether they were at an advanced age or still on the active roster, Orton built up a head of steam by defeating icons under multiple stipulations.
He also had one of the best Intercontinental Championship reigns in recent memory.
Rather than disappearing after a somewhat underwhelming tenure as a face, Orton became the center of controversy. He RKO’d Stacy Keibler, and years later, did the same to Stephanie McMahon in a grossly underrated feud with Triple H.
Orton also kissed McMahon in front of her husband, Triple H, while he was handcuffed to the ring ropes. Disgusting in a real life setting.
Brilliant for a heel.
Whether you like the man or not, Orton is one of the best villains WWE has ever hosted.
Here’s hoping WWE lets him loose once again.
