The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette vs. The Southern Boys
The Midnight Express and as Jim Ross refers to as “Wrestling’s premier manager” Jim Cornette were fantastic together and brought out the best in their opponents and the crowd. Hard to believe The Southern Boys’ ring gear sports the confederate flag, but they put on a great show this night.
My favorite spot of the match comes when both Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong cover both Bobby Eaton and Stan Lee at the same time for the two-count, the crowd and I are eating it up.
Smothers kicks out of the Rocket Launcher and the crowd loses its mind, Cornette pulls some tricks and an Eaton roll-up seals at. This had to have been The Southern Boys best match, because I was impressed with Smothers’ athleticism and Armstrong’s ring ability.
Definitely watch this one in its entirety, Cornette is such a heel and The Midnight Express is one of the most underrated teams in the history of WWE, WCW and ECW. This is great tag team wrestling with some innovative spots and everyone’s favorite manager, Jim Cornette.
