Jack Swagger vs. Cesaro
For the first time in, what feels like, a really long time, SmackDown opened with a match, not a promo. I like that, every now and then.
Cesaro played the heel really well in this match, using tactics such as distracting the referee and giving Swagger a thumb to the eye.
I like that they acknowledged that they were former tag team partners, and put a lot of counters into this match.
Cesaro was in control and went for a big boot, but Swagger caught Cesaro’s foot and locked in the Patriot Lock.
Swagger defeats Cesaro via submission.
3 out of 5 starts – Decent match. Certainly a solid TV opener. Love the Swagger push. Hate the Cesaro de-push.
Lana promo
Lana referred to Russia’s flag as “the real red, white and blue”. Then, on behalf of Rusev and Vladimir Putin, Lana challenged Swagger to a Flag Match at SummerSlam.
Zeb then accepted on behalf of Swagger and all Real Americans everywhere. Loud “We the People”. Crowd is insanely behind Zeb and Swagger.
