Rusev defeats Jack Swagger in a Flag Match

Calling this a Flag Match is a real injustice.

I was very impressed with this match, there were plenty of times when I thought that Swagger was going to pull off the victory. They expertly sold their respective injuries, and traded submissions flawlessly.

I’m very interested to see where they go with Swagger now, after the pass out finish. I would love to see him get a push. I didn’t think his face turn would work, but it has been huge.

Rob Wolkenbrod’s Take:

On a night with so many marquee match-ups, this was buried in the trenches.

These two put on a decent bout. It would have been better to make the flags a little more significant in the match since this was a “Flag Match.” It was good enough, though.

It’s obviously not Steve Austin passing out to Bret Hart, but seeing Swagger pass out to Rusev’s Accolade submission showed his guts and strength as a face.

Now the question is if this goes to round three. Rusev has won both battles, so I don’t think this continues, but you never know. Maybe if a title unification doesn’t occur, he could go into battle with Sheamus or Ziggler for their respective titles.
