WWE Rumors: WWE Trying To Get More Risqué

WWE may be attempting to add more sex appeal to their current storylines. The guinea pig storyline for WWE’s attempt to add more sex appeal is the storyline between AJ Lee and Paige.

Over the course of the past two months, Lee and Paige have gone back and forth between being best friends and being enemies. As NoDQ reports, WWE has teased their being sexual tension between Lee and Paige while the two divas have been booked together. NoDQ mentions that WWE wants to play off the tease of sexual tension and go further with that sentiment.

"[NoDQ]The idea behind WWE’s ongoing storyline between AJ Lee and Paige has definitely been to tease sexual tension between the two. There was a creative decision made last weekend that they want to go further with the angle. No word yet on what they may have planned but nothing risky was done on this week’s RAW and it appears the same goes for last night’s SmackDown tapings."

There is no question that feud between Lee and Paige has been entertaining. One of the reasons why the feud has been entertaining is because of the aforementioned sexual tension between the two. WWE is aware of that fact is looking to incorporate more risqué segments into their programming.

"[NoDQ]With the AJ vs. Paige storyline and a few other incidents like more adult language being used and Rosa Mendes being exposed on Main Event, it would appear that WWE may want to do more risqué angles because they need buzz to push the product. However, WWE is still working with Mattel and have promised sponsors they won’t ever go back to how they were. It was speculated in a recent issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that we’ll likely see more slip-ups and minor adult language on WWE TV but not enough that it will attract attention past the wrestling audience."

WWE is onto something with wanting to do more risqué segments. But it will be interesting to see how WWE goes about doing that.

For those that were unfamiliar with the Rosa Mendes incident, Mendes had her pants pulled down a few weeks ago during a match on WWE Main Event. Interesting enough, WWE did not appear to be against the mishap like they have been in the past with similar incidents. It has been reported in the past that WWE has put heat on divas who have had wardrobe malfunctions during WWE programming. Instead of putting heat on divas, WWE may now be scripting wardrobe malfunctions into their events. Given that a large portion of WWE’s demographic is still 18-45 year-old males, scripted wardrobe malfunctions may not be such a bad idea for a company looking to create some buzz.

But, there is something else that WWE could do.

WWE could bring back the Bra and Panties match. The last Bra and Panties match in the WWE was in 2006 at The Great American Bash. It was a four-way Bra and Panties match between Ashley Massaro, Kristal Marshall, Jillian Hall, and Michelle McCool. Massaro won the match after stripping Hall of her top.

Now for those that are unfamiliar with the Bra and Panties match, the objective of the match was to strip your opponent of their clothing, thus exposing their Bra and Panties.

Now given the PG-era that WWE has vowed never to move away from, Bra and Panties matches can not be a regular staple. But that would be a good thing because if buzz is what WWE is looking for, then a Bra and Panties match shouldn’t be a regular staple. Instead, the match should only  be offered as part of a pay-per view card from time to time. That way, there would be a buzz among fans over what two divas would be a part of the next Bra and Panties match.

Imagine Lee and Paige acting upon their sexual tension in a Bra and Panties match? Now, that would be the sex appeal that WWE is looking for in their storylines.
