Dean Ambrose Must Triumph at Hell in a Cell

More from John Cena

At the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view at the end of this month, Dean Ambrose and John Cena will face off in a match where the winner is granted the chance to fight Seth Rollins later in the night in a Hell in a Cell match. Ambrose must overcome Cena, and follow on to beat Rollins inside the cell. It’s vital that the feud between Rollins and Ambrose ends properly – with a brutal, dramatic bout where Ambrose finally gets his vengeance.

The Rollins/Ambrose rivalry began back in June, after Rollins shockingly attacked fellow members of The Shield, Ambrose and Roman Reigns, and joined The Authority. Reigns then set his sights on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and faced various members of The Authority, including Randy Orton and Kane. Ambrose, on the other hand, has aimed solely for revenge on Rollins since his betrayal.

The pair have only had one match during their four-month feud: a Lumberjack match at Summerslam which resulted in Rollins winning. Rollins also kayfabe injured Ambrose which wrote him off TV for a month. The rivalry has so far been Rollins dominating Ambrose (with help from The Authority), and the next logical step would be for them to have a match at Hell In The Cell to give Ambrose the chance to redeem himself.

However, Cena is now involved with Rollins after he caused Cena to lose his title match against Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. Since, Cena has been desperate for revenge and has been battling with Ambrose to get this chance. Their feud has been based on who is most deserving of a shot against Rollins, and it will culminate in what is guaranteed to be one of the matches of the night at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. The combination of Cena’s experience and Ambrose’s sheer technical ability will produce an excellent match.

  • Dean Ambrose is an up-and-coming star. He has always been a firm internet favorite ever since he wrestled in the Indies and as a part of FCW, but his two year run on the WWE main roster has proven that he is ready to be a main eventer. A win over Cena would solidify this and give him the opportunity to have a stellar main event match. The last time Cena lost clean on PPV was to Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013. The time before this was to The Rock at WrestleMania 28. Allowing Ambrose to pin Cena and beat him fairly would give him a boost both as a current face and a future star in the company.

An Ambrose/Rollins match makes more sense than Cena/Rollins. The two would also be a safe bet to have the match of the night, with a high chance of them creating a MOTY candidate. If Ambrose does get his chance to fight Rollins he should leave the cell as victor. Rollins has led this feud thus far, but as the Money in the Bank briefcase holder and one of the current top heels in the company a loss will not affect him. Ambrose, on the other hand, could have a Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30-esque moment after overcoming everyone who has stood against him. He is currently the most over face in WWE but continuously losing in feuds would affect his character, and the crowd would end up giving up on him. Ambrose beating Rollins at HIAC after a memorably merciless bout inside the cell would benefit both men in the long run, whereas a Rollins victory could have bad repurcusions for Ambrose.

John Cena does not need this win. Seth Rollins does not need this win. However, for Dean Ambrose, winning at Hell in a Cell could cement his career and prove to the fans that WWE is as behind him as they are.
