If you plan on watching SmackDown this Friday, you should stop reading this article and check out other pieces on Daily DDT.
The most recent SmackDown tapings came from Wichita, Kansas.
This episode features a battle for the Intercontinental Championship along with other mid-card matches to fill up the card for Friday night.
Let’s take a look at what happened, courtesy of Wrestling Inc.
"SmackDown kicks off with Dean Ambrose in the ring ready for a fight. He calls out Seth Rollins. Rollins talked more about The Shield and promised to address Ambrose again later in the show."
"The Miz and Damien Sandow defeated Los Matadores."
"AJ Lee got a good pop and defeated Alicia Fox with a roll up. Paige, who was at ringside, talked trash after the match and chased AJ."
"Dolph Ziggler defeated Cesaro to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title in a great match. Ziggler won with a Zig Zag."
"Nikki Bella, Summer Rae and Cameron defeated Natalya, Naomi and Brie Bella when Nikki hit her finisher on Brie and pinned her."
"Cesaro vs. Ziggler in a 2 of 3 Falls Match is announced for Hell In a Cell."
"Bo Dallas, Goldust and Stardust defeated Mark Henry and The Usos when Bo pinned Henry."
"The show ended with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose brawling. Ambrose ended up putting Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble through two tables for a big pop. Rollins watched from outside of the ring."
From viewing this on paper, it seems like SmackDown will be very weak this Friday.
We have seen AJ Lee defeat Alicia Fox almost every week on TV, and yet, WWE decides to put them against each other again. The extremely lazy booking for AJ’s feud with Paige has turned this whole program stale. It needs to end after this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell PPV.
Nikki pinning Brie just doesn’t make much sense. They have pinned each other once already, so why make their record against each other unbalanced?
Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler’s match at Hell in a Cell could easily steal the show. Giving them a 2 of 3 Fall Match will let them have plenty of time in the ring to produce a phenomenal match. I’m very much looking forward to it.
It seems like Gold and Stardust haven’t won a match since the Night of Champions PPV. It was good to see them pick up a much needed win before HIAC, but it leaves me concerned that they will drop the Tag Team Championship back to the Usos. WWE may take the Ziggler-Miz route here.
Other than the Cesaro-Ziggler match, the only reason we have to watch SmackDown is for the end of the show. Seeing Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble go through a table should be entertaining. There does not seem to be any real movement in the rivalry between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, however, from this episode. It’s not much of a surprise, since WWE had so much go on in the main event of Raw this past Monday to put over both HIAC matches.
What do you think of the results for this Friday’s edition of SmackDown?
