Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
Orton was extremely aggressive to start the match.
There were a few times when Rollins started to climb back into it, but Orton’s experience allowed him to stay in control.
Rollins broke through by driving Orton face-first into the middle turnbuckle, but his time on offense didn’t last long. Orton regained control, but he took his focus off Rollins as he prepared the announce table.
When Orton got back in the ring, Rollins tried to capitalize, but again Orton countered.
Rollins finally took over when Orton went for the hanging DDT, and Rollins launched him over the top rope to the outside. Rollins then followed with a suicide dive.
After Orton countered a curb stomp attempt with a power slam, he hit the hanging DDT.
Orton then went for an RKO, but Rollins countered with a backslide pin for the win.
Rollins defeats Orton via pinfall.
After the match, Orton was trying to compose himself, as Triple H, Kane, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble tried to play the peacemakers. Orton went down the line and shook the hands of Noble, Mercury and Kane, then thought about it, but shook Rollins’ hand after Rollins apologized. Orton gave him a sly smile and said, “I’m sorry too,” before delivering an RKO.
The whole scene was a mess from there, with Orton punching Triple H, and delivering an RKO to Mercury, but it all ended when Triple H and Stephanie gave the order to “finish this.”
Kane and Noble then set up the stairs and set Orton up, before Rollins hit a vicious curb stomp.
Orton would be carried off on a stretcher on Raw Backstage Fallout.
3.5 out of 5 stars – Really good match, and the post-match segment was really good as well. This was a really well-thought out segment, and they left themselves a lot of different ways they can take this in Orton’s absence, and once he returns.
