Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship

Both men showcased their athleticism early, with Ziggler eventually forcing Rollins to take a break on the outside.

Rollins then used a very methodical offense to wear Ziggler down. Rollins is really great at modifying his offense based on heel/face, it’s one of the biggest reasons he doesn’t get cheered as a heel.

After Ziggler started to comeback, both men went over the top rope after a Ziggler clothesline. Ziggler was able to keep in control, but Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble circled and distracted Ziggler long enough for Rollins to take over and continue his assault.

Ziggler finally was able to hit his comeback, but he missed the Fameasser and Rollins rolled him up for a two-count.

Ziggler went for the Zig Zag, but Rollins held onto the ropes, helping him keep his feet. Mercury and Noble immediately got involved, with Noble getting the decisive blow, a hangman.

Rollins hit the curb stomp on Ziggler, but just before he went for the cover, Randy Orton appeared and hit him with an RKO.

Rollins defeats Ziggler via DQ.

3.5 out of 5 stars – Really good match, with a good, sensible finish that advanced the storyline and made the two competitors look good.

The Authority and Randy Orton backstage

The Authority were discussing Orton’s attack on Seth Rollins, when an emotional Orton busted in looking to join the discussion.

Orton asked for a match against Seth Rollins tonight. Stephanie McMahon told him that The Authority couldn’t put their co-captains in a match against each other, but Orton scoffed at the thought that he would team with Rollins.

Triple H stepped in and gave an intense speech to Orton about their history together, and how much they can accomplish if they work together, and what they’ve done against each other.

Triple H eventually gave Orton the match with Rollins, saying that it all ends after the bell rings, and they go back to being a team.

This was great. When Triple H gets intense, it can be chilling.
