4. Vince McMahon

It never hurts to go back to a classic every now and again, and the return of Vincent Kennedy McMahon would not be a terrible step to take, at least for a few months. The Chairman of the Board returned from a long hiatus from live performing in the build to Survivor Series, and created the scenario for the Authority to fall out of power at the PPV. And though as time moves on he his divulged more responsibilities to his eventual successors Triple H and his daughter Stephanie, McMahon will continue to work until he passes on, so why not do it from the front?
Vince McMahon has been the head honcho on television since 1997, embroiled in the controversial Montreal Screwjob at that year’s Survivor Series. Since then, he has been involved in some of the most memorable, hilarious, crazy and ridiculous stories and feuds in the history of professional wrestling. Although he is above all remembered as a diabolical heel that looked to exact vengeance and his iron fist on the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock and Shawn Michaels over the years, at the moment he would be celebrated as the man that ousted the Authority, whether he wished for that or not.
The two things that could be ensured by McMahon in charge are fairness and unpredictability. The fairness will come from not having any respect or regard for any superstar on the roster. During his numerous reigns he has looked upon his wrestlers with equal contempt, as one could be his friend one minute, and the next would be threatened with being fired. And he is the very model of unpredictability, as you never know what he is going to do or say. He has been blown up, crushed, punted, slapped and hit with every finisher known to man.
The drawbacks are fewer than for most, but still prevalent. McMahon recently turned 69, and whilst he maintains a strong and healthy figure, whether he would be able to continue on live TV every week might be challenging. It would certainly be down to him above all else, and if he could take any more bumps in the ring. Also, it has been done numerous times before, so another name could be more surprising and original. But, in the end, the Boss would be a brilliant choice to steer the ship in the Authority’s absence.
