CM Punk recently went on Colt Cabana’s podcast to discuss the reasons for his departure from WWE. A big focus of it was on Ryback, so the Big Guy responded.

Earlier this year, CM Punk walked away from the WWE after the Royal Rumble PPV due to “frustrations” with the company. However, we didn’t find out much about it for about ten months until his recent sit-down with Colt Cabana on his Art of Wrestling podcast.
Part of Punk’s rant about his time in WWE was about working with Ryback, who has been known at times to be too aggressive in the ring. Here’s what he said about the Big Guy, via Wrestling Inc.
"Punk said that Ryback injured him several times, but he saw working with Ryback as a challenge. He noted that he worked for several months leading to his departure with broken ribs due to a kick delivered by Ryback. He also was supposed to be press slammed by Ryback through a table, but missed the table altogether (which you can watch at the end of the video above). He’d go on to say that Ryback took “20 years off of his life.”The injuries incurred from Ryback started to pile up and happening so often that he started to think it was intentional. He said that he went to Ryback after the press slam through the table and said, “Either you’re doing it on purpose and you suck, or you’re dumb as f*ck – which is it?” He said that Ryback replied in a dejected tone, “I’m dumb as f*ck.”Punk would also go on to call Ryback “the steroid guy,” noting that he calls them like he sees them. Ryback was suspended or 30 days in July 2006 for a violation of WWE’s wellness policy, which he blamed on over the counter supplements."
So, as expected, Ryback did not take too well to this criticism of him. He posted the following tweets about Punk’s criticism:
Good for Ryback for standing up for himself. Whether you like him or not, he shows by this that he loves what he does in professional wrestling and continues to strive to be better.
It’s been ten months since CM Punk’s departure and it’s still arguably the hottest topic in the wrestling community, which means that it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change anytime soon.
