Report: WWE Backstage Reaction to CM Punk’s Podcast Appearance

Ever since CM Punk’s appearance on “Art of Wrestling” was posted, there has been a lot of reaction from fans, but little has come from WWE, aside from a very boring, very politically-correct statement.

Sure, “The Big Guy” Ryback has had some things to say, then he deleted those things and said more things, but Punk had plenty of unkind words for Ryback. Many have wondered what the rest of the locker room thought about Punk’s comments.

Well, according to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, who did an audio show about the situation, almost everybody in WWE has listened to the podcast, and even though many guys had issues with Punk, pretty much all of them loved it. Alvarez said that a lot of guys in the locker room are afraid to speak out, and they are thrilled that Punk took to a public forum to do so.

Many fans were very interested in the locker room’s reaction to Punk’s comments. I, for one, knew there was something to Punk’s words, and that they weren’t just vindictive words from a jaded employee, but I didn’t know to what extent to believe them. Now, after hearing a respected man say that the locker room agreed with Punk’s sentiments, it tells me that it may get worse before it gets better for WWE.

As for the higher ups, the reaction of the unpredictable Vince McMahon was, well, unpredictable. Alvarez said that while Vince was upset with what Punk had to say, he wasn’t “fuming”. He also noted that nobody expects more than a “corporate answer” from Vince on the subject, when he does the live Steve Austin podcast on WWE Network after Monday’s Raw. Of course, Vince is unpredictable.

As for the man who arguably got hit the hardest by Punk on the podcast, Triple H, Alvarez said that him and Stephanie McMahon have an “abject hatred” for Punk, and that he received a text from somebody in WWE which said, “Triple H wants to kill Punk.”

Punk is said to be on the “no-call list,” most likely referring to the list of people they won’t call for special appearances, definitely no Hall of Fame inductions.

As a fan, the Hall of Fame is the biggest disappointment. Though no direct mention was made to the Hall of Fame, it’s safe to say that Punk has little-to-no chance of getting inducted, which is a shame for a shoe-in on paper, and a favorite in the eyes of many fans. It becomes even more upsetting when you look at names like “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Owen Hart, who, even if they do eventually get in, won’t be there to appreciate the moment. It would be a shame to see that happen with Punk.

As for Colt Cabana’s role in all this, the company is also said to be very unhappy with him, but Cabana doesn’t seem phased:
