WWE TLC Predictions: Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee for the Divas Championship

This Sunday night, at WWE TLC, AJ Lee gets her rematch for the Divas Championship, when she goes one-on-one with Nikki Bella.

At WWE Survivor Series, AJ put her title on the line against Nikki, but there wasn’t much of a match. Right after the bell rang, Nikki’s sister Brie grabbed the title belt and hopped up on the apron. When AJ went to take it back from her, Brie grabbed AJ by the back of the head and gave her a big kiss. AJ was confused and walked right into a big forearm from Nikki, who then hit a Rack Attack for the win.

This past Monday, AJ beat Nikki, Brie, and Paige for the Slammy Award for Diva of the Year, and in her acceptance speech, amidst rumors that she is leaving the company, said that her reign as Queen of the Divas Division isn’t over yet.

Will AJ regain the Divas Championship? Or will she lose to Nikki and fade off into the Chicago sunset? We have some predictions from Rob Wolkenbrod, Callum Wiggins, Brian Rzeppa, Carl Gac, and Mike Smith:

Rob’s Take: Hopefully this is better than the “Kiss of Death” match from Survivor Series. If they get even 5 minutes, it will be better this time around.

Brie has to turn on Nikki at some point after this weird, no-reason-given-by-WWE heel turn. The smart idea would be to have Brie turn face and cost her sister the Divas Championship. I also don’t think AJ Lee is going to leave WWE like it’s being reported for the 200th time.

Rob’s Prediction: AJ Lee

Callum’s Take: The Divas Title match will hopefully last longer than last time these two met – maybe they’ll get three moves in. Nikki has been improving steadily in the ring over the last year, and has her sister at her side to help protect her reign. AJ is the most talented performer among the Divas Division, and if they are given a reasonable amount of time to perform, this could be one of the better women’s matches of the year.

In the end, Nikki’s title reign has been too short to realistically see her lose this match. Even though the company have been playing hot potato with the belt since AJ lost it the night after WrestleMania, Nikki is another one who should keep hold of the title until the Grandest Stage of Them All. There, she can either battle Brie, AJ or participate in another pointless battle royal featuring all the Divas on the roster.

Callum’s Prediction: Nikki Bella

Brian’s Take: With the amount of highly-talented women that are scattered throughout the WWE roster, you would think that there would be more variation throughout the Diva’s division. Unfortunately, that is not the case, so we’ll see a Survivor Series rematch (and probably the last match between these two for the foreseeable future, given that this is just AJ’s rematch clause).

Over the past few months, it has been clear that they are building towards a Bella vs. Bella match and I expect them to follow on that course. Putting the Diva’s title up for grabs makes that feud much more appealing, so I think we’ll see Nikki retain.

Brian’s Prediction: Nikki Bella

Carl’s Take: I can see nothing but a win for Nikki here. After winning the belt at Survivor Series, she’s not looked like the best champion of all-time, but an impending feud with sister Brie makes me think AJ is gonna be unlucky on the night. The loss will be a shame as AJ is one of the better female wrestlers on the roster, after all the CM Punk goings on in the last few weeks will we see her fall by the wayside in the company?

Carl’s Prediction: Nikki Bella

Mike’s Take: If AJ loses, she’s gone. The only reason to not give the title back to AJ would be if she’s leaving the company.

That being said, I don’t think that AJ is leaving, and I think she will take the title back tonight. I like Nikki a lot, but they are doing more damage than help by shoving her down everybody’s throat.

They’ve shown some patience by holding off on the Nikki vs. Brie match, and they’re letting it build a bit. In my opinion, the best way to build to that match is have Brie turn on Nikki here.

Mike’s Prediction: AJ Lee
