The In-Form Underdog – Dolph Ziggler

WWE.com

One of those Internet darlings is next on this list, but it is not without merit in terms of results and form for Dolph Ziggler. The newly crowned Intercontinental Champion has been on fire with fantastic performances in the second half of 2014. Yet, it has been in the last two months where his status has experienced its greatest boost in his entire tenure. With a helping hand from Sting, he overcame seemingly impossible odds at Survivor Series by defeating Team Authority, despite being down 1-on-3.

Nevertheless, in spite of his form and performances, historical evidence has resulted in a significant number of fans not considering Ziggler a valid choice to win. Many assume that he is constantly in the dog house with the creative team, or his past unfortunate injuries have resulted in him being disregarded as a top star. Ziggler certainly isn’t the biggest or most physical competitor, with his dogged enthusiasm and speed his main weapons in outlasting the bigger superstars.

Yet, there is still hope for the Show-Off, and he could ride his wave of momentum and crowd support into becoming 2015’s Daniel Bryan. With his recent history of prevailing over slim situations and rising to the occasion, Ziggler might be viewed as a legitimate threat to Lesnar. He is unwilling to quit, and with the emotion of the crowd behind him, it would produce an outstanding match in theory. And, perhaps even more interestingly, Ziggler could work a compelling battle with Cena as well, with the possibilities of shocks and turns seemingly endless.
