Edge and Christian commented on how this show “totally reeks…of awesomeness.” They then discussed Rollins’ many nicknames, like “Mr. Money in the Bank,” and “The Walking Pile of Suck,” before they introduced him.
Rollins came out and did a great job of hanging with Edge and Christian, as all three men talked circles around each other, and it was incredibly funny.
Rollins talked about his accomplishments, and said that nobody had a better year than him, while Edge and Christian suggested that Cena, Dolph Ziggler, and Sting would have something to say about that.
Rollins then brought out his good friend, Big Show. He laughed with Show, saying, “New Year, new us. Right, big man?” Then he immediately introduced Cena, but Cena was nowhere to be found. Edge made fun of Rollins for trying to be him, but lacking the charisma, and Rollins said he doesn’t need to be him, because he’s already better than him. Rollins said that he wants something from Cena, and he demanded that he come out. Rollins said that Cena forced his hand, and he had no choice but to force Cena’s. Rollins hit Christian in the stomach with the briefcase, taking him out of the picture. Then, when Edge shoved Rollins, he found himself surrounded by Show and J & J.
Cena came running out, but was halted in his tracks, when Edge found himself in a precarious position, with Rollins ready to break his neck.
Cena tried to test Rollins a little bit, but didn’t push him over the edge, and eventually conceded and brought The Authority back. Rollins, who is on fire, and still had Edge in a precarious situation, told Cena, “But, you gotta know me better than that. I’m gonna kill him anyway.”
Cena charged, allowing Edge to escape, as Cena held his own against all four men, but eventually was taken out, and he took a Curb Stomp from Rollins.
Rollins went up the ramp, as he celebrated with Show and J & J. When they reached the stage, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman came out, with Heyman shaking Rollins’ hand and joining them in the celebration.
As Raw was about to go off the air, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out with champagne in their hands, and they celebrated their return to power.
This was a great segment, one where Rollins really shined. It was also, probably, the best way they could have brought back The Authority. I don’t necessarily love the timing, because it feels too soon, but it should be good to see Triple H and Stephanie come out and open Raw’s 2015.
