Regal announced the next WWE Network live special would air on February 11th. He also announced the #1 Contender Tournament.
Regal would also make Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for tonight, after Banks’ win in their tag team match last week. That match would be with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line.
Sami Zayn and William Regal promo
Zayn came out and beat up Tye Dillinger before their match could even start.
Zayn jumped on the mind and started calling for Kevin Owens, but he got William Regal instead.
Regal came out and said that Zayn cannot act this way, and asked what Zayn was doing.
Zayn said he’s not wrestling another match until he gets to face Owens, but Regal was not into the idea. Regal said that he can’t have somebody like Owens coming in and attacking the champion, thinking it will earn them a title shot. He said that it has to be earned the right way.
Zayn said that it doesn’t have to be a title match, and that he would do anything to get his hands on Owens.
Regal finally gave in, saying that he could tell Zayn wasn’t going to give it up, and that he could tell it meant a lot to Zayn, so he made the non-title match for the next live special.
Very good promo from Zayn, who is having no problem showing off his edgy side. Which is good, because many people questioned if he even had an edgy side.
Regal is fantastic, and is modern-day proof that we don’t always need a heel authority figure.
