Curtis Axel vs. Finn Balor in a #1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Match
Balor was on fire at the beginning of this match, knocking Axel to the outside and pulling out a tope con hilo, which kept up the high energy of the crowd, which was already hot after his incredible entrance.
When the action returned to the ring, Axel was able to get back into it, after Balor was a little slow to stay on Axel, and the referee allowed Axel to regain his breath.
However, Balor ignited his comeback, hitting two flying forearms, a Pele kick, and a sling blade lariat. Then, Balor went to the top rope for a diving double-foot stomp, which he’s calling the Coup de Grace, for the win.
Balor defeats Axel via pinfall.
3 out of 5 stars – Good match. The resurgence of Curtis Axel continues.
Sasha Banks w/ Devin Taylor
Banks said she beat Charlotte in the middle of the ring last week, and she’s going to do it again this week. She said the “Boss” will finally be champion.
She then asked if Devin had any more questions, but quickly turned, said, “Don’t care,” with a smile, and walked away.
Banks is really delivering right now. She could be a star.
Bull Dempsey backstage
Dempsey said that he had his “ticket to the top” in his hands, but he let it slip away when he lost to Baron Corbin.
He said there won’t be any counting when he gets a rematch next week, just an arena full of people chanting “Bull.”
Spoiler alert: Nobody will be chanting “Bull.”
