WWE Royal Rumble Predictions: Kickoff Show Match: The New Day vs. Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose

facebooktwitterreddit

This Sunday, on the WWE Royal Rumble Kickoff Show, The New Day will take on Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose in a Six-Man Elimination Tag Team Match.

This match has come about after the random pair of Kidd and Cesaro randomly worked with Rose against The New Day.

Let’s get to the predictions from Daily DDT staff members Jack Jorgensen, Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Brian Rzeppa, Callum Wiggins, Becca Cook, Carl Gac, Tim Sherry, Chris Schubert, and Mike Smith:

More from Daily DDT

Jack’s Take: Kidd and Cesaro in this one with some sort of interference from Rose.

Jack’s Prediction: Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose

Rob’s Take: So far, New Day has mostly dominated this rivalry. However, I think they’re going to give Cesaro, Kidd and Rose the victory here because of how New Day has failed in their brief run together.

Rob’s Prediction: Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose

Jordan’s Take: The New Day will undoubtedly get the win during the Royal Rumble kickoff. Again, there is not much to this match.

Jordan’s Prediction: The New Day

Brian’s Take: The initial reaction to “The New Day” was far from positive, but it appears that they’ve gained some traction and are starting to connect with the crowd. Their high energy style in the ring and in their promos is fun to watch, but I don’t know if we should get accustomed to them being a “face” tag team given some of their comments in their promos, as well as comments from the announce team.

On the other side, Cesaro/Kidd have quickly gained popularity with an incredible array of high-impact moves. While I would rather see them as singles competitors, I have no qualms about this partnership as of right now. With The New Day being relatively young as a team and in need of a win, I see them coming out victorious in this one.

Brian’s Prediction: The New Day

Callum’s Take: This has been a feud that has been frequently afforded time on the undercard, so it’s good that they have been afforded time on the Kickoff Show to have an impact. All members of the New Day, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd are supremely talented performers, so should have no trouble getting the crowd excited early on. As for Adam Rose, I’d prefer to see him eliminated as fast as possible, although I have a sneaking suspicion he’ll be the last Lemon standing for his team.

Xavier Woods will likely be the first member of the match dispatched due to his ankle injury, swiftly followed by a roll-up on Tyson Kidd. Rose could then follow in an ideal world, before Big E is taken down by the power of Cesaro. That will leave Kofi Kingston and Cesaro, two excellent performers who have a history of exceptional matches against one another. However, this feud so far has been fairly one sided in favor of the babyfaces, and I don’t see that likely to change at the Rumble. The New Day wins it for me.

Callum’s Prediction: The New Day

Becca’s Take: The formation of the team of Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Adam Rose was unexpected, but it’s better than none of them receiving any screen time. The New Day has been a complete flop: the crowd are refusing to engage with them and I’m not sure how WWE can fix this. The majority of the crowd will be cheering on the heel team, so I’ll predict that they will win.

Becca’s Prediction: Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose

Carl’s Take: How quickly have the New Day fallen? Whilst they came in with the backing of the bosses, with the numerous vignettes etc, they seem to have fallen off the radar. The only thing that attracts me to this match is the Cesaro/Kidd factor. It would appear that Vince and Co. still don’t think Cesaro has that “It Factor” (for me, they couldn’t be any more wrong), so he has been put together with Kidd and they seem to be running with it. We need to see Cesaro get the winning pin here.

Carl’s Prediction: Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Adam Rose

Tim’s Take: Unfortunately, The New Day will win the kickoff show match. WWE always likes to put the faces over in the first match to get the crowd going and for some reason feel it necessary to bury Cesaro at any given opportunity.

Tim’s Prediction: The New Day

Chris’ Take: It takes a lot for WWE to get me interested in their Kickoff Show Match. Most of the time it’s a throw away match with people they couldn’t fit on the main card. But the Rumble Kickoff Show feels a bit different. This match actually has some tension to it, as these two newly formed groups have been at odds over the past couple of weeks. WWE writing has kept us from knowing why Cesaro and Kidd attacked The New Day and joined Adam Rose, but that’s being bitter I guess. This match can really go either way, but I think The New Day is still the preferred group going forward and they get the win Sunday night.

Chris’ Prediction: The New Day

Mike’s Take: The New Day should get the win in this one. As a general rule, if a three-man team gets vignettes, and they have a PPV Kickoff Show Match against the most random three-man team you can find, the team with the vignettes is going to win.

Mike’s Prediction: The New Day

We are 6-4 in favor of The New Day. Who do you think will win? Let us know in the comments section below.
