WWE Royal Rumble Predictions: Paige and Natalya vs. The Bella Twins
By Mike Smith
This Sunday, at WWE Royal Rumble, Paige and Natalya will go up against The Bella Twins.
This feud started with Paige and Natalya both making individual campaigns for the Divas Championship, then suffering from Double Trouble.
As they said on commentary on SmackDown, they’re not really friends, they just have a common enemy.
What will happen in this Divas tag team match? Jack Jorgensen, Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Brian Rzeppa, Callum Wiggins, Becca Cook, Carl Gac, Tim Sherry, Chris Schubert, and Mike Smith have some predictions:
More from Daily DDT
- It’s time for Adam Cole and MJF to drop the ROH tag team titles
- Tom Lawlor talks MLW return, AEW opportunity, CM Punk’s WWE return and more
- Eddie Kingston stands to gain the most from the AEW Continental Classic
- Trish Stratus on WWE NXT would help elevate that women’s division
- Randy Orton signs with SmackDown to go after The Bloodline
Jack’s Take: The Bellas get the heel win in this glorified promo for Total Divas, which is now what every single Divas match is.
Jack’s Prediction: The Bella Twins
Rob’s Take: I think this is going to be the match where Brie turns on Nikki and becomes a face again. It will give Natalya and Paige a win, but where these two go from here will be a mystery.
Brie turning on Nikki will lead to a match at WrestleMania 31 that will finally be the culmination of the 7-month program, which will be the length of it once the big show comes up.
Rob’s Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Jordan’s Take: Another pay-per view match to appease the folks at E!. The Bellas will win the match but this is the time you will be making a sandwich.
Jordan’s Prediction: The Bella Twins
Brian’s Take: I may be alone on this, but I’ve really loved how well both of The Bella Twins have developed inside of the ring. While they’re certainly not on the level of their opponents in this match, they should be able to put on an entertaining contest that should not be skipped over by viewers.
Given that Nikki is champion and this is a non-title match, I would have to assume that she’ll be on the losing end if I have learned anything from WWE booking over the past few years.
Brian’s Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Callum’s Take: It seems slightly odd that the Divas Champion will be competing in a tag team match rather than defending her title against either Paige or Natalya, but I suppose this makes sense. Obviously, I would like to have high expectations for this match. 2014 demonstrated that both Bella Twins have improved leaps and bounds in the ring, Nikki in particular carrying herself like a cocky ring general. Opposite them, Paige and Natalya are two of the best female wrestlers on the roster, extremely versatile and hard-working. However, there is the ever-familiar feeling that fans could care less, because this will be the traditional bathroom break spot compared to the other offerings on the card.
Still, I’ll hope to enjoy it. These Divas are some of the best available, so should be able to string together a good match. Who knows, they might be given a decent amount of time to compete rather than the usual five-minute filler. Nikki Bella and Paige had a great match on Main Event recently, demonstrating that these ladies can entertain just as much as the men if afforded the same amount of time to tell an effective story. The result is a bit of a coin toss, as both teams have pretty equal chances due to the title not being at stake. As such, I will plump for Paige and Natalya to win to continue this feud into Fast Lane, with the Butterfly belt then being on the line.
Callum’s Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Becca’s Take: I don’t see why Nikki isn’t defending her title in a Triple Threat Match at Royal Rumble and why we’re getting just another random Divas tag match. Paige and Natalya are two of the most skilled women on the roster, so I’ll stick to kayfabe and say that there’s no way the Bella twins can beat them in a wrestling match.
Becca’s Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Carl’s Take: Is anyone else bored of the Bellas yet?
Paige and Natalya hail from 2 of the best families in wrestling, and are two of the best in the company, not just in the Divas Division. They deserve the win here but that doesn’t mean they’ll get it. I can see the Bellas having their hands raised at the end.
Carl’s Prediction: The Bella Twins
Tim’s Take: The Bella Twins will win. There will probably be some type of incident between Paige and Natalya and that hopefully leads to a program between the two. The Bella Twins will continue to go on with no real direction.
Tim’s Prediction: The Bella Twins
Chris’ Take: Normally my plan for picking a Divas contest is picking whoever is on Total Divas. This match presents a challenge because both teams are apart of Total Divas. Paige and Natalya have a newfound “friendship” that could spell trouble for the Bellas. Nikki Bella being the Divas Champion complicates this a bit, but I think the Bellas go down with Brie being the one pinned (possibly re-creating tension between her and her sister).
Chris’ Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Mike’s Take: This should end with a win for Paige and Natalya, as they head off into a feud that leads to the winner (probably Natalya) challenging Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship at Fast Lane.
At Fast Lane, Brie costs Nikki the title, and Natalya goes into WrestleMania as champion.
At WrestleMania, we have another big Divas Championship Match, this time with actual storylines.
Mike’s Prediction: Paige and Natalya
Our staff is narrowly picking Paige and Natalya, at 6-4. Which tag team do you think will take supremacy in the Divas Division? Let us know in the comments section below.
