After months of playing a cat and mouse game, Sting followed through on Triple H’s invitation and confronted WWE’s COO during the WWE Fast Lane pay-per view.

The Sting and Triple H face-to-face happened at WWE Fast Lane.

Triple H opened the segment by apologizing for what he did to Ric Flair last week on Raw and professed that he is here as a competitor and not WWE’s COO.

Sting then entered the arena and met Triple H in the ring.

Triple H proceeded to cut a promo on Sting during his time with WCW. Triple H admitted that he had respect for Sting staying with the sinking ship known as WCW. That is the reason why Triple H believes Sting came to WWE to exact revenge on The Game being one of the reasons why WCW sunk. Triple H wanted Sting to put the WCW issue behind him and create a new legacy with WWE as a partner of The Authority. Triple H also teased the idea of inducting Sting into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Triple H then mentions the other way which was him beating down Sting like he never existed.

Triple H and Sting started brawling. The Game got the upper advantage after hitting Sting with a microphone. Triple H proceeds to bring out the sledgehammer. Sting gathers himself and holds a baseball bat to Triple H’s neck while The Game eventually drops the sledgehammer. Sting then points to the Wrestlemania sign with his bat. Triple H presumably agreed to the match.

As Sting was leaving the ring, Triple H went to attack Sting. Sting responded by hitting The Game with the baseball bat and the segment ended with Sting hitting Triple H with a scorpion deathdrop.

It is now confirmed that Sting will make his WWE in-ring debut at Wrestlemania 31 against Triple H.

Before Sting debuted in WWE last November, there had been rumors that The Vigilante would be coming to WWE to face The Undertaker. The Undertaker likely will be facing Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania, leaving The Man Known As Sting to face Triple H at Wrestlemania.

Having Sting face Triple H at Wrestlemania as opposed to The Undertaker was the right decision.

Like the Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight in boxing on May 2nd, a Sting-Undertaker bout at this point would have fallen victim to the hype. Three years ago, a Sting-Undertaker match at Wrestlemania would have been gold. But, now, Undertaker’s body is too beaten up to put on a match that once had the potential to be the greatest in the history of Sports Entertainment.

Instead, we will be treated, yes treated, to a program between Triple H and Sting over the course of the next month. The build up to the program has been excellent with Sting living up to his Vigilante billing. But, now the fun begins as the Sting-Triple H feud will have segments on nearly every WWE program leading up to Wrestlemania.

Sting is the greatest superstar to have not competed in a WWE ring and his first match with WWE will be against one of the company’s most storied competitors in Triple H.
