Rusev got his victory over John Cena at WWE Fast Lane to secure his spot as a top heel on the roster. However, Rusev’s victory at Fast Lane will only lead to a John Cena victory at Wrestlemania 31.

Did anyone listen closely to John Cena’s promo on Monday Night Raw?

While Cena did not use the “guarantee” word, the leader of the Cenation did declare that he will beat Rusev at Wrestlemania and win the WWE United States championship. WWE does not take face characters making guarantees or declarations lightly. In the past, the rule has been that a guarantee or declaration by a face character means that said character will be living up to his promise.

Meaning, Cena will be defeating Rusev at Wrestlemania 31 and be crowned the new WWE United State champion.

To be honest, that likely would be the right decision.

Rusev needs to have his first loss. Once Rusev is defeated for the first time, the former NXT talent would become a legitimate candidate to not only enter the main-event picture but also enter the picture for the WWE World Heavyweight championship. While Rusev the may drop the title to Cena at Wrestlemania, there will be bigger things in his future.

As for Cena, having the company’s top man as the United States champion will bring prestige back to the championship. Though, that would also mean that Cena likely will continue in his role of putting over young and upcoming talent.
