The second to last SmackDown before WrestleMania was spent continuing the effort to elevate the importance of the Intercontinental Championship, heading into the seven-man ladder match for the belt at The Show of Shows.
This episode saw all six contenders in that ladder match participate in a Gauntlet Match, with champion Bad News Barrett being given the opportunity to sit back and scout his opponents.
Also, receiving some focus was Roman Reigns. Reigns was the first man out for the night, getting a little mic time, and he also participated in the main event.
