What are the Chances of a WWE-UFC Super-Card?

WWE’s WrestleMania 31 brought plenty of great moments or as most would call it a “Mania Moment”.  While personally my favorite was DX and nWo going at it during the match-up of Sting vs. Triple H – another one that was almost as good in my opinion was The Rock’s appearance.

I’m as much of a “mark” for Rock as anyone – anytime he comes out it’s going to be memorable and entertaining.  But he took it up a notch this time around with the help of a friend – Ronda Rousey.

The stare down between Rousey and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley was awesome! You could feel the tension building between the two and I was just waiting to see who’d blink first.  With their altercation – you can almost see the writing on the wall that there will be something down the road involving these four.

"According to MMA Mania, UFC boss Dana White approved Rousey’s appearance at WrestleMania well in advance of the show, and Rousey is still expected to fight Bethe Correia at UFC 190 in August. Still, Rousey’s stellar spot at WrestleMania and her subsequent hint that she isn’t finished in the pro wrestling business have given WWE fans a glimpse of what the UFC star could bring to pro wrestling, and she seems like a perfect fit. -Credit Nick Swartz of ftw:usatoday.com"

WrestleMania 32 is going to have to be an epic event to sellout AT&T Stadium in Dallas – a Rock match seemed likely before but now it almost feels all but certain.  A Rock and Rousey vs. Triple H and Stephanie mixed tag match would draw a lot of attention.

So lets just say this match does happen – even if it isn’t at the “show of shows” – what about the UFC? Where does Dana White stand in all of this?  Well obviously with Rousey under contract to the UFC, she will have to get approval from White to do this.

Considering the type of the business person and promoter he is – I’m sure any attention that isn’t negative he will welcome and I’m sure the payday will also make it an easier decision.

  • Maybe there is already a deal in place with White and the WWE – what about maybe a cross-promotion deal where UFC would have a fight or two on the WWE Network or WWE even doing something on a UFC PPV.

Crazier things have happened in both sports.  And after all Brock Lesnar is still on good terms with White and the UFC.  And Vince McMahon himself has always said that anything can happen in the World Wrestling Fed…well, it would be Entertainment now – but you get the point.

Just think how the buzz could get going with the newest UFC prized name CM Punk coming back to WWE programing…..now that would “put butts in the seats” as good old JR would say.

Surely I’m just speculating – there is nothing to say that anything more than the mix tag match is likely to happen but its nice to fantasize about as a fan of both companies.
