Hideo Itami’s WrestleMania Journey

We then got a video package of Itami’s journey during WrestleMania weekend.

First, though, was a look back at him signing with WWE last summer. They show video of Hulk Hogan introducing Itami to the ring to sign his contract to join the company.

We then got a look at his opening promo from NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way.

Triple H spoke about Itami’s growth and how he had to go through learning English and taking his family across the world to the USA.

We then got a look at the end of the match we just saw to show Itami getting his moment to go to WrestleMania. He gets an ovation from when he walks backstage and gets greeted by Tatsumi Fujinami.

“I can’t believe this Sunday, I’m going to WrestleMania. It’s not a dream, it’s true.”

We then get video of the San Jose live event. We get highlights of Itami facing Tyler Breeze, which was where he finally hit the GTS. Awesome moment. If it wasn’t going to be done at a live special, doing it in front of NXT’s largest crowd is fine.

We then get video of Seth Rollins briefly talking to Itami and then the match itself – the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Unfortunately, it led to being eliminated by Big Show. Nice to see that he got some chants walking back, though. He got a lot of respect from the main roster stars, which was great to see too.

“He won. In every way imaginable, he won” – Triple H.
