April 8th marks the one year anniversary of the passing of WWE Hall of Famed wrestler The Ultimate Warrior. I began watching wrestling at the age of six and while I at first was a Hulk Hogan fan because he was the main star that was shown on the first show – shortly thereafter they showed The Ultimate Warrior. I was hooked as soon as I heard his music and his entrance.
The loud music, the bright colors, face paint, the big muscles, everything about him looked like a real life superhero running out of the comic books. From that point on he became my hero. To this day, I still call him my hero. Never apologizing for who is and what he believes – that is something that I admire so much.
I have faced a lifetime of criticism of how reckless he was as a wrestler, how crazy his promo’s were, and how many times he “died”. To those who still think that he was reckless and a poor performer – that is your opinion but how many wrestlers did he cripple? How many wrestlers did he end the careers of?
None.
While someone who is often regarded as an excellent wrestler who I also am a fan of – Owen Hart – nearly crippled Stone Cold Steve Austin. And he at the very least cut the career short of maybe the biggest draw in the history of pro wrestling. Another wrestler that is popular – Goldberg – ended Bret “The Hitman” Harts career with his stiff judo kick to the skull of the “Hitman”.
With every hater there is out there of the Warrior, there are even more of those who are fans like I am of him. This is for those fans. In this I am rating The Warrior’s top five rivals. I hope you enjoy this and remember all the fun you had as a fan and how exciting he was to watch run out to the ring and perform for us fans.
As Warrior would say – Always Believe!
