Ending Goldust’s Career

Over the past year or mor,e Goldust has been just as good, if not better, than he’s ever been.  The Goldust/Stardust story should have been allowed to play out and have been finalized at WrestleMania with Goldust pushing Cody to the next level.  Personally, I think that was the original plan.  If it was and why it changed, who knows.

While nothing that I have heard or read says this, to me it just seems that Goldust is winding down and almost ready to call it a career as a performer. With that said, a good way for him to go out could be at the hands of Rusev. Mind games can be played with Rusev – have the old Goldust tricks come back to play.

Involve Lana in the story, having her start to fall victim to the polarizing mind games of Goldust. This will enrage Rusev, and give it that personal feeling for him to really lay a brutal beating on the Golden One.

A series of matches with Goldust scoring the win because of his games and his veteran knowledge will teach the Russian a lesson on how to not just win a match, but embarrass your opponent.  With the payoff of this being a short string of beatings by Rusev to extract pain for his losses, setting up their last encounter which should go similar to how the Bulgarian Brute beating Cena went.

You don’t want to have Goldust tap – you want to have him beaten down to the point where he cannot continue. Letting him go out of the WWE in a strong story while helping elevate a new big star at his expense.  Rusev would make anyone forget about his losses to Cena and focus on him being closer to the next big main event player.
