With the recent news of Stone Cold Steve Austin being upset with John Cena using a variation of his signature “Stone Cold Stunner” – it makes me think what other moves shouldn’t be duplicated.

The signature moves are special to the performers that use them but for the few iconic wrestlers who have finishers that are used by other wrestlers, they are memorable as well but when you see them used it makes you think of that special performer and not the current one using it.

For instance, when you see any wrestler chop another wrestler – what do you do and who do you think of? WOOO Ric Flair. Same with a figure four leg lock. Someone delivers a DDT – Jake “the Snake” Roberts pops in your mind.  A flying body splash from the top rope – Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. We could go on and on for a long time naming these moves and who did them best or made them famous.

I see Stone Cold’s issue with Cena using this springboard variation of the stunner. It is used just as a comeback move and doesn’t hold any significance in the match other than Cena transitioning from being down and making that baby face comeback. If he called up Austin and said to him that he wanted to switch his finisher from the AA to the stunner and Austin gave him his blessing then I’m sure there wouldn’t be any issue.

Now every move is used again and again from generation to generation and there isn’t anything wrong with that except there are a few moves that hold a special place for many fans and those moves shouldn’t be used for anything other than signature moves. So with that, it made me think of a few moves that should be saved as finishers or just not be used at all except for those ones who made those moves famous.
