Five Wrestling Moves That Shouldn’t Be Copied

Stone Cold Stunner/Ace Crusher

Well this started with Stone Cold so we might as well end it with Stone Cold’s stunner. I still think this is the best finisher in all of wrestling. It is quick and devastating and everyone knows that Stone Cold is the one who made the stunner stunning. Johnny Ace can take credit for the move and a lot of fans knew about that from his days in Japan. He coined it as the “Ace Crusher” – it is a nice name but it doesn’t have the same sound as a Stone Cold Stunner.

Now lets not confuse this with a “Diamond Cutter” or an “RKO” – at least I don’t. I see the two moves as different – both great but different. DDP and Randy Orton lay out flat – the “Stunner” sits – call it being picky but hey that’s how I can say they are different. Just like a “Boston Crab” and “Walls of Jericho” are different.

This may spark debate but I will say that Stone Cold is the biggest star in professional wrestling history – his feud with Mr. McMahon could be the best feud of all time for a single federation (WCW vs. WWE probably the best), and his move should stand out as being in that same regard.

The amount of matches he used it in, the amount of titles that he won with it, and the fact that he made that a wrestling fan’s house-hold maneuver makes the move his. Like I said with the other moves – if someone wanted to use it as a finisher and called Austin up and asked for his permission and it was granted – then fine. If that doesn’t happen, I don’t see it as something that should be used.
