Randy Orton and Roman Reigns vs. The New Day
Result: The New Day defeats Randy Orton and Roman Reigns via pinfall.
Rating: 2.8 out of 5 stars
This three-on-two match was made by Kane.
New Day begins by taking brief control over Reigns until the former Shield man attacked Woods and tagged in Orton.
Orton and Reigns would begin swapping tags as they went to work on Woods. They played a very cocky role during this. After a distraction, Woods would finally tag out and New Day would take control. They continued to get to Orton as we headed to commercial.
On the WWE App, Big E and Orton would trade a few Irish whips until the Viper hit the tag on Reigns. He would begin to gain momentum by clobbering Big E and Kingston. However, the numbers game got to Reigns and he was knocked out of the ring. When we got back to TV, it was still all New Day as they controlled Reigns.
Eventually Orton finally got the hot tag. He hit a beautiful power slam on Kingston and a trademark DDT from the ropes. Orton would hit a big RKO on Woods, but as Reigns went to spear Kingston, he inadvertently hit the Apex Predator. Kofi pinned Orton for the win.
After the match, Kane came out and said there’s no shame in losing to the WWE Tag Team Champions. He says their evening isn’t ending yet. Reigns vs. Orton is announced for the main event.
Decent but long TV match. Sets up more to come for later.
