No.2: Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig

Nobody beats Mr. Perfect…..nobody! Well, at least not for a while they didn’t. Mr. Perfect was hyped with a number of interesting vignettes that showed him being, well, perfect at everything he did. And they didn’t waste a lot of time in getting him involved in the top-tier of the WWE.

After roughly a year of beating lower to mid-card wrestlers like The Red Rooster, The Blue Blazer, and Tito Santana, Hennig went on to start challenging Hulk Hogan for the World title. He’d even cost the Hulkster a count out loss to The Genius Lanny Poffo on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Later, Perfect would smash the title belt with a hammer and stick a piece of bubble gum on the belt…..you may recognize it later as the Hardcore title that Mr. McMahon gave to Mankind.

He did have a number of house show matches with Hogan but nothing more than that. Hennig was stuck in the Intercontinental title picture through his wrestling days until his back injury forced him to an early retirement.

As the Intercontinental Champion, Perfect had some great matches against Bret The Hitman Hart, The Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich, Tito Santana, and even the Big Bossman, but never had anything more than his runs with the IC belt.

He had success with the AWA as their World Champion, which he held for over 50 weeks before losing it to Jerry The King Lawler, that would be is only reign as AWA champion, but was a main event fixture in the company.

The “Perfect” heel and wrestler, he should have had more success in the WWE. Maybe if not for his back injury it would have come later down the line when guys like the Hitman, Flair, HBK, and Savage for the second time won the title.
