7. Enhanced Career Mode

To be frank, the MyCareer mode sucked. It was something that came packaged with a great deal of promise, but failed to live up to any expectations. Living the life of a WWE superstar, climbing the ranks for the Performance Center, to NXT, into eventually becoming the WWE Champion was an enticing prospect for fans. But, like many 2K career modes, this was incredibly straining, repetitive and unexciting. Despite the ability to create any character and lead them through the rankings, this was pretty nonsensical. You would simply compete in one stale match after another without any angle or direction, and the same feuds would arrive over and over again.

I’m not saying there has to be hundreds of options with interlocking stories and conclusions, but surely more effort could have gone into it. You could not even make a decision to be a heel until about two years into your career, which is something you should be able to determine from the outset. It just felt like you were following a preordained formula that every other player of the game had gone through for the first ten hours of gaming, which doesn’t really fit the mold of “My” Career. This mode needs some serious revision and more options available to make it a committed and entertaining experience for the player.
