WWE Battleground 2015: Analyzing Possible Swerves

John Cena Pins Kevin Owens

The match many will be looking forward to tonight is John Cena defending his WWE United States Championship against Kevin Owens. With the series tied 1-1, many expect the former NXT Champion to win and get his first main roster title.

However, Cena’s recent feuds with young stars may put some doubt in fan’s heads. He defeated Bray Wyatt in a feud 2-1 last year, arguably destroying his momentum. The U.S. Champion also put an end to Rusev’s reign earlier this year by winning 3 out of 4 matches.

If Cena pins Owens, it’s safe to say there would be a backlash. The latter’s momentum would be damaged and booking repairs would be needed as soon as possible. Could WWE do this yet again to an up-and-comer?
