#3 – “This is called a front chin-lock.” (Richard Belzer)

I’m a comedian. Comedians are usually not that physically imposing. Our muscles are our words. You also learn a lot of lessons as you learn to be a comedian: how to act on a stage, what material fits what audience and especially how never to pick on someone bigger than you. Just days before Wrestlemania in 1985, Comedian Richard Belzer never got that memo.

On Belzer’s talk show Hot Properties, the host repeatedly wanted Hogan to perform some of his signature moves on him. Hogan refused repeatedly, but when you keep poking the bear, the bear will eat you… or at least cut your head open. Hogan obliged Belzer and put him in a modified guillotine chokehold. Unbeknownst to Hulk, Belzer full-on passed out and fell to the floor, hitting his head in the process.

Comedians prefer words over muscles so Belzer’s retaliation was suing Hogan for $5 million. Thankfully, they settled out of court with Hogan and Vince McMahon splitting the tab.

The lesson: Comedians have a terrible workrate, brother!
