This week’s show starts with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins gracing us with his presence. There is a recap of the Rollins/Cena match and Rollins breaking John’s nose.
Rollins is greeted with “you tapped out” chants and says so what. He says all he has heard for so long from the WWE Universe is “so what”. Rollins says he reached his breaking point and broke Cena’s nose and shows it to the WWE Universe. He calls the breaking of Cena’s nose a work of art like a Picasso painting. As he’s going on and on, Cesaro interrupts.
The Swiss Superman makes his way out. He says Rollins is missing the most important part of the match: when he tapped out to Cena. Cesaro mentions how they have a rematch later and Rollins tells him to get out of his ring. Cesaro says lets do this right now, and the match begins.
Cesaro vs Seth Rollins (Non-Title Match)
Result: Cesaro def. Rollins by DQ
Rating: 2.6 stars out of 5 stars
Cesaro quickly takes control and forces Rollins to the outside. As the match starts Kevin Owens makes his way out from the back.
Back from commercial and Owens is on commentary. Cesaro is in control of the match and hits a catch suplex for a two count. Owens validates Rollins’ reason for tapping out of it being a smart business decision and openly cheers for Seth. Rollins takes control of the match but gets caught with a huge uppercut when he attempts to hit a suicide dive. Cesaro goes for the big swing, but Owens interrupts for the DQ.
Owens and Rollins get into a staredown after the match. It’s broken up by refs before anything can happen.
Evan’s Notes: The second Owens came out you knew where this match was headed. Cesaro continues to be the great in ring worker he is with a renewed push. Rollins is still the slimy despicable champ, and Owens continues to be able to out-heel anyone on the roster. A nice opening match for sure.
Rusev vs Jack Swagger and an 8 man tag between Los Matadores/Lucha Dragons and New Day/Ascension is announced.
