As WWE approaches SummerSlam, it seems appropriate to consider some superstars and divas that might not survive in the company long enough to see another…

WWE’s roster of superstars and divas is a collection of some of the greatest wrestlers and performers in the world today. They are the cream of their profession, and are able to compete in front of a global audience on a weekly basis, and are some of the hardest-working athletes in the world. Yet, in such a competitive environment where your relationship with the WWE Universe determines your future success or failures, there are many within those ranks that occupy the role of jobbers and filler with no reasonable hopes of growing anytime soon.

Therefore, before WWE heads into their second-biggest event on the calendar, SummerSlam, it seems a good time to consider who among this crowded roster that are unlikely to remain in the company long enough to see another one.

Whilst nobody wants to see a wrestler lose their job with the biggest name in the business, as despite their lack of exposure, they are still making money and providing for their families. It is one of the few organizations you can rely on a guaranteed contract, so it is not with any vigor with which I consider which of these competitors should be released by the turn of the year.

Nevertheless, WWE is a business, and sometimes cuts have to be made. With NXT growing in popularity, and space needed for its popular stars to progress onto the main roster, eventually there will come a time where the wheat is cut from the chaff. Those who are lacking bookings and television time will be moved on to be replenished by new developmental talent and signings, and they can be free to seek pastures new in the independent scene, which for some will arguably feel like a blessing following years of devaluation.

As a proviso, this list is selected from WWE’s main roster of superstars and divas, and doesn’t include any other ringside personnel or prospects from NXT.
