10 Things That Must Happen at SummerSlam

Celebrity appearances aren’t wasted
Whilst WrestleMania is usually the center for the collision of WWE and celebrity culture, SummerSlam is getting the star treatment this year, ironically this first time the show’s taken place outside of Los Angeles since 2008. Sometimes celebrity involvement is detrimental to the wrestling product, if some musician is simply there to plug their latest album or an actor promotes their latest show or movie despite having no knowledge of WWE (looking at you Jeremy Piven). However, this year we arguably could benefit from plentiful involvement from this star power.
The host of SummerSlam has been named as Jon Stewart, a cultural icon and former host of the satirical news program The Daily Show. He is also a massive WWE fan, and as demonstrated in his exchanges with Seth Rollins earlier this year, Stewart can really add value to the show through promos and backstage segments. Then, there is Arrow star Stephen Amell, who will go one step further by competing in a match, teaming with Neville to take on “the Cosmic Kings” Stardust and King Barrett. Hopefully this doesn’t get a minimalist treatment, as the athletic Amell could really shine given the opportunity, and make this a memorable contest for the fans and all involved.
