The New Day shine

The tag team division has been remarkably stale for the last few months, with creative seemingly just going through the motions. The Prime Time Players have held the Tag Team Championships with no real distinction for the last couple of months, whilst injuries to Jey Uso, Erick Rowan and Tyson Kidd have depleted the number of meaningful tandems on the roster. That is why SummerSlam, like WrestleMania 31, will feature a hastily put together fatal four-way match for the titles, rather than place any effort into building a genuine story for the division.

As such, the most entertainment this contest could provide will likely come from the New Day. They have been sensational since turning heel after WrestleMania, producing strong matches, promos and segments that have really benefited the tag team division. They are undoubtedly the most over team on the main roster right now, and arguably should never have dropped the belts to the PTP. Nevertheless, whether it is in victory or defeat, the New Day’s claps should be littered all over this title bout to ensure it is compelling as it possibly can be.
