Randy Orton vs Sheamus

Result: Sheamus def. Orton by pinfall (Brogue Kick)

Rating: 2.75 stars out of 5 stars

Orton trues to go for the RKO right away, but Sheamus rolls out of the ring. Sheamus grabs a mic on the outside and tells the Brooklyn crowd that they look stupid and tells everyone to respect the hawk. Orton up-ends Sheamus on the announce table and rolls Sheamus back into the ring.
Sheamus gets control in the ring and manages to drop a knee off the top rope to Orton for a two count. Sheamus manages to hit consecutive backbreakers on Orton while constantly taunting the Viper. The two trade blows but Sheamus manages to get an elbow into the mouth of Orton. Randy manages to get some momentum and launches Sheamus over the top rope to the floor with a t-bone suplex.

Orton begins to work over Sheamus in the corner and messes up his signature mohawk. The Irishman fights out and Orton ends up busted open. Sheamus locks Orton in a cloverleaf submission, but he reaches the ropes. Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick but misses and ends up getting powerslammed by Orton. The Viper also hits a hangman’s DDT off of the top rope instead of the middle one.

Orton sets up for the RKO but Sheamus rolls out to the apron,. Sheamus gets some control back and goes for a battering ram over the rope but Orton catches him with an RKO! Before Orton can pin though Sheamus rolls to the outside.. Orton sets up Sheamus for a Punt Kick, but misses and Sheamus is able to hit him with White Noise and both men are down.

Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick, but misses. Orton attempts to hit an RKO, but Sheamus pushes him away and hits two straight Brogue Kicks and picks up the victory.

Evan’s Note: A decent match with some good spots, such as the top rope hangman’s DDT and the double Brogue Kick, but it was nothing completely spectacular. A decent opener to the biggest event of the summer.
