2. The Four Horsemen

Key Members: Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon

Years Active: 1985-1989

Woo! The Four Horsemen were the true definition of what a fantastic faction should be. They had an incredible tag team in Ole and Arn Anderson, a future star in Tully Blanchard, a winning manager in JJ Dillon and a superstar leader in The Nature Boy Ric Flair.

The Horsemen came together in November of 1985 and the group dominated the NWA. They first feuded with Dusty Rhodes in which the Horsemen broke both Rhodes Ankle and Hand.  The Horsemen helped Flair fend off Rhodes as he was trying to take the NWA Heavyweight Championship away from Flair.

The group also feuded with the likes of Magnum T.A, Barry Windham, The Rock N’ Roll Express, The Road Warriors and Ronnie Garvin. The Horsemen in their promos would brag about their success and would high tailored suits and take planes and limos to the events.

During their time together the Horsemen won every major championship in the NWA and WCW with Ric Flair winning 14 of his 16 world championships being a member of The Horsemen. Tully Blanchard during his time in The Horsemen would also win a heavyweight championship as a member of the Horsemen.

Along with helping Ric Flair remain the top wrestler in the world, the faction also helped Tully Blanchard reach super star heights as well. During his time in The Horsemen Blanchard won the Television, United States , Tag Team and Heavyweight Championship.

When it came to Tag Teams The Horsemen produced two strong teams consisting first of Ole and Arn Anderson, and of Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson.  Both teams would win Tag Team championships with Arn and Tully even winning the WWE Tag Championships as the Brain Busters.

Despite there being many versions of The Horsemen over the years, including members such as Dean Malenko, Lex Luger and Chris Benoit, the original group will always be known as one of the greatest factions of all time. The group was the first faction that drew up the blueprint on how every successful faction should be. They lived the part too, riding limos, using exclusive jets and being actual playboys. Their legacy would influence future factions such as Evolution and Fortune on how a faction should be.

The Four Horsemen’s legacy will always be one of styling and profiling
