8. The Shield

Members: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns

Years Active: 2012-2014

Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta, that’s the military spelling for our next faction who used the idea of Militia Brotherhood to help dominate the WWE for two years, The Shield. Composing of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins, The Shield came out of nowhere in late 2012 when they interfered in the main event of the 2012 Survivor Series. Soon after, The Shield created a dominance in the WWE for over two years.

The Shield believed they were the ones who were maintaining justice in the WWE. The group was originally dubbed as mercenaries paid by Paul Heyman to help CM Punk during his championship run. After breaking away from Punk, the group became known as an unbeatable trio. They went undefeated in six-man tag matches for nearly six months. Their biggest win during that time came on an episode of Raw when the trio defeated Daniel Bryan, Kane and The Undertaker.

Championship success soon came the group’s way as Ambrose won the United States Championship, and Reigns and Rollins won the Tag Team Championship in May of 2013. The group then would become the new enforcers for The Authority, taking out and attacking superstars who battled The Authority such as Punk, Daniel Bryan and John Cena.

However, towards the spring of 2014, The Shield began to become their own unit breaking away from The Authority. This caused Triple H to reform Evolution to try to take them down. The Shield would get the better of The Authority both times they would meet in the ring.

The Shield looked like an unstoppable force until the unthinkable happened. In June of 2014, Rollins shocked the world when he turned on Reigns and Ambrose, rejoining The Authority as Triple H’s protegé. Even though The Shield’s brotherhood was ruined by Rollins, one thing is for certain when they were a unit they truly were the Hounds of Justice.
