Beckett Is Tough Enough

In April, WWE began looking for applicants for its new season of Tough Enough. Of the 11,000 entries, one of the most popular was a parody entry by Keith Apicary, a brilliant comedic character from actor Nathan Barnett. One of the video’s biggest fans was Beckett Sage. So in the era of reaction videos, Beckett filmed himself watching the “Keith is Tough Enough” video.

Keith Apicary loved the video and posted it on his social media and Apicary fans jumped on the Beckett bandwagon. They even deemed Beckett the leader of the ‘Apicarmy.’ Beckett was inspired by Keith’s video and decided that he, despite being only three-years-old, wanted to give the competition a shot himself. Beckett edited past footage and ended up with a video submission featured high spots, mic skills and an overall passion for the business.

Unfortunately, WWE declined Beckett’s entry. (And if it makes you feel any better, that turned down Keith Apicary’s video as well.) While Beckett’s entry was slick and convincing, the idea of a three-year-old trying the moves of professionals was probably not something WWE wanted to endorse. Even worse, WWE picked ZZ, which left Beckett to ponder if there was life outside WWE homemade videos or if he should move to Louisiana, wrestle gators and let himself go. With his theme-naming days numbered, Beckett took an even bigger risk than applying to Tough Enough. He wanted to see if he could make it outside WWE and ventured into parts unknown. And he rocked out doing it.
