“The Turn”

In sports, there are moments that you’ll remember for a lifetime. Usually, those moments will have a name. (“The Move”, “The Drive”, “The Catch”, etc.)

In terms of Seth Rollins, his moment came on June 2, 2014. “The Turn” was all but inevitable after The Shield dispatched of Evolution twice, along with Batista walking out of WWE again. But, “The Turn” came from the guy nobody expected.

With Ambrose’s long U.S. title reign and Reigns’ dominance during the Royal Rumble, Rollins seemed almost forgotten in the equation. Rollins would attack Ambrose and Reigns with a steel chair, leaving them down for the count as Raw went off the air. As you saw above, The Game and The Viper would pick the bones and leave Ambrose and Reigns beaten and battered.

You could hear a pin drop in the arena that night and for good reason. Rollins aligning himself with Triple H was a move that not many saw coming, including myself.

Personally, I fell for all the seeds planted in the script of Ambrose being the one to turn his back on The Shield. He was dubbed “the chaotic one” of the trio, and as you can see nowadays, he’s unstable. Rollins’ being the one to make “The Turn” was fantastic, and really jolted Rollins into a huge spotlight moving forward.

Rollins’ turn not only marked the end of The Shield, it marked the true beginning of Seth Rollins.
