Tyler Breeze and Bull Dempsey vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa
Result: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeats Tyler Breeze and Bull Dempsey via pinfall (sunset flip combination).
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
When Dempsey makes hit way out, he copies Tyler Breeze’s top rope relaxed pose which just makes Breeze angry. The match starts with a big “Johnny Wrestling” chant as Breeze squares off again Tommaso Ciampa. Breeze gets slapped across the face by Ciampa and quickly tags in Dempsey, who is laughing at his tag team partner.
Bull gets in control of Ciampa and tags in Breeze but Ciampa makes the blind tag to Gargano who spears Breeze through the ropes onto the apron. Gargano connects with some kicks and a leaping neck-breaker as Breeze tags in Bull. Gargano connects with an enziguri to Dempsey to take the big man off his feet. Ciampa comes back in and grounds Dempsey with a headlock as we go to break.
Back from break and Ciampa manages to get on Bull’s back with a chokehold. Bull drops to knock Ciampa off and both men are down. Ciampa gets the tag to Gargano who kicks Breeze off the apron. Bull gets free for a tag, but when he goes to Breeze Tyler is on the apron. Breeze ends up back on the apron, but Bull doesn’t see him and runs into the ropes knocking him off. Bull gets distracted after he realizes he’s knocked down his partner. Gargano and Ciampa hit a sunset flip pinning combination to get the win.
After the match Breeze snaps and beats up Bull Dempsey. He hits the Supermodel Kick to Bull and leaves him prone in the ring.
Evan’s Note: It seems like there is going to be a feud between the Prince of Pretty and the Leader of Bull-Fit. This should be an easy feud to book as Breeze will blame Dempsey for their loss in the tournament and dislike him for his slovenly appearance. It’s a step up for Dempsey who was seemingly lost ever since he lost in his feud with Baron Corbin.
Gargano and Ciampa were impressive in their NXT debut. Hopefully they can be around NXT for the next while and go far in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
