Lucha Dragons Backstage

Sin Cara and Kalisto say they are doing this tournament in Dusty’s honor. The promo is done in both English and Spanish. They say it’s an honor to also compete against Balor and Samoa Joe, but that their opponents should not underestimate the Lucha Dragons.

Dana Brooke is interviewed backstage by Devin Taylor. Dana says that she is bothered that Bayley became NXT Women’s Champion, even though she has beaten Bayley before. Dana says she’s taking the hard way and not using her looks to forward her career. Dana Brooke calls herself the “total diva” and says that playtime is over. She pats Devin on the head like always and says “I still got it” to end the segment.

Tye Dillinger has a vignette air about his perfect 10 gimmick. I’m excited for the gimmick to get a good run in NXT and get a solid feud before TakeOver.

Billie Kay vs. Dana Brooke

Result: Dana Brooke defeats Billie Kay by pinfall (sit-out driver).

Rating: 2.2 out of 5 stars

Dana gets backed into the ropes by Billie, and Billie takes control of the match with a headlock. Dana gets her up to her feet, but Billie brings her right back down. Billie hits a hurricanrana on Dana, but Dana gets control and unloads on Billie before flexing over her. Dana puts in a handstand foot choke in the corner, and then hits a handstand elbow drop for a two count. Dana has Billie in a head scissors, but Billie flips it into a pinning combination for a two.

Billie gets some momentum, hitting a hurricanrana and big boot, but she can only get a two count. Dana hits an enziguri, and then plants Billie Kay with a version of the Michinoku Driver for the victory.

Evan’s Note: Dana’s gimmick at this point is being the total package, so she seems kind of similar to a female Lex Luger. Her match was not the best, but it will be interesting to see where her apparent feud with Bayley will lead.
