Roman Reigns vs. Luke Harper

Result: Roman Reigns defeats Luke Harper via pinfall (Spear).

Rating: 2.9 out of 5 stars

Harper goes for his powerbomb right off the start of the match, but Reigns manages to get away from it. Reigns sets up and hits Harper with his drive-by dropkick and Reigns is firmly in control of Harper to start. Harper reverses a Samoan drop with a series of elbows, but Reigns remains in control and connects with right hands to the face of Harper.

Harper gets control on the outside with a rake to the eyes. He connects with a big boot and a sit-out powerbomb, but can only get a two count. Harper goes for the Discus Clothesline but gets caught with a Superman Punch. He tries again, but Reigns ducks and connects with a Spear. Reigns makes the cover for the victory.

Evan’s Note: Hot start to SmackDown. Good to see a one on one match with no interference in this feud. Harper seemed to get genuine heel reactions from the crowd, and his addition of the classic heel move of the eye rake was good psychology. Just because these guys are weird cult members doesn’t mean they won’t cheat.

New Day are announced to be up next against Neville & Lucha Dragons in 6-man tag action. They have a backstage segment dunking on a backstage worker.
