John Cena

Cena will always be around the title picture until he retires, despite fans calling for new stars to take his spot. He has received two WWE World Heavyweight Championship chances this year, coming up short in both.

Cena is also on his way to his 16th World Title reign. When he gets there, he’ll tie the record amount of reigns with Ric Flair. The 2016 Royal Rumble may be Mr. HLR’s stepping stone to doing this.

WrestleMania 32 is going to be in front of 100,000 people and again being built as one of the biggest WrestleManias of all-time. It means Cena, who’s still a large draw for WWE, will get a prominent spot on the match card. This could mean he receives a title reign, as WWE wants to make sure they sell out AT&T Stadium.

Cena also fits the profile of the typical Royal Rumble winner. He’s above the age of 31 (38), the most recent star to win the Rumble and subsequent title match, and a two-time winner. Plus, it helps that he’s John Cena, the face of WWE for the past decade.

Fans will roll their eyes at Cena being an option but as long as he’s not the current title holder or No. 1 Contender when Royal Rumble rolls around, don’t count him out.
