10. Rusev

Until last night’s Raw, Rusev wasn’t going to make the cut for this week’s top-10. But that Summer Rae marriage proposal segment was great for two reasons: 1.) It was a further demonstration of just how far Rusev can stretch his character between being funny and being the Bulgarian Brute he’s billed as; and 2.) We got a hint that a title pursuit is on the horizon for ol’ RuRu. Hopefully he’s going after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

9. The Dudley Boyz

You’d expect that a main gimmick of putting people through tables might get old after ten-plus years, but it doesn’t. At least not for the Dudleys. The amount of energy that these guys bring to the ring, especially Bubba Ray, is keeping them from becoming a team that is merely resting on their laurels.

8. Kevin Owens

Week after week, Kevin Owens continues to impress. It helps that he’s been consistently booked with some great wrestlers (Jericho, Cesaro, Cena—to name a few), but every time he’s in the ring, it’s hard to believe that KO can have a bad match with anyone. His versatility is among the best, and his continued use of the eye poke is a statement that someone can be a classic heel without being a cliché.

7. Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman

There isn’t a more engaging duo in pro wrestling, period. Anytime these two are on TV, they command the audience—Heyman with his words; Lesnar with his pure athleticism. Even if the Undertaker is nowhere to be found in the lead-up for their match at HIAC, Lesnar’s three F-5’s on the Big Show this week are more than enough of a reminder that he and Heyman are still here. Outside of the Stone Cold Podcast, Lesnar probably won’t spend too much more time on WWE programming before HIAC, but does he really need to?

6. Kane

Kane is doing his best work since Team Hell No. The over-the-top split personality story has been nothing short of brilliant, and for the first time in a long time, I find myself excited whenever the pyro hits and the organ blares. Although he’ll probably lose at HIAC, it’s great to see Kane in a much-deserved, super-entertaining WWE World Heavyweight Championship feud.
