4. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe vs. Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson
The first semi final we saw from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the best match we saw in the tournament on the night. Four men who all wanted to open the show on a high point and pulled that off with ease.
Joe and Balor got off to a flying start, the highlight of which has to be the massive dive over the top rope by Balor on to Dawson and Wilder. The Mechanics got the upper hand and a chop block on the NXT Champion by Dawson was the reason for the uncertainty behind the injury to Balor. After the match the commentary team speculated as to whether he could continue in the competition, he was never going to pull out though.
The Mechanics looked more than comfortable alongside their more illustrious opponents. Their technical style sets them apart from most of the other teams that they call peers. For the NXT tag team division to thrive Dawson and Wilder need to be mainstays alongside Chad Gable and Jason Jordan. Right now they are positioned in the perfect spot, not a lot is expected from them but they always put together entertaining matches.
Joe and Balor got the win in the end with the Muscle Buster/Coup De Grace combo but they took nothing away from their young opponents with the win.
