Will WWE Ever Give Cesaro a Proper Push?

Cesaro continues to push his brand, but will anyone in power actually listen?

The “Cesaro Section” signs aren’t exactly a new craze, but the movement has picked up in recent months, with Cesaro pointing it out more aggressively at nearly every appearance, even on live TV. As you probably have seen, he’s been literally looking at the camera, doing a hand signal like “do you see?” and pointing to his section. Obviously, he’s talking to someone backstage with these, oh so subtle, hints.

Lately, Cesaro has even jumped into the crowd to share the love, which, of course, makes the fans adore him that much more. This past week on Raw, while walking to the ring, Dolph Ziggler decided to get in on the act by holding up a “Cesaro Section” sign in front of a group of fans with the same message. Again, Cesaro did the “do you see?” hand signal to the camera.

Creative obviously sees all of this, but will they react? It’s been long rumored that Vince McMahon finds Cesaro “boring”, and during his interview with Steve Austin earlier this year, these were his thoughts on Cesaro:

"“He’s not connecting yet and we hope he will. He doesn’t quite have the charisma. He doesn’t quite have the verbal skills as well, and maybe because he’s Swiss, I don’t know, in terms of the European style. But those are the big things that he’s lacking. The audience needs to care about you. They need to be able to feel your presence. You need to be able to project that. He’s an extraordinary physical talent, extraordinary. But at the moment, and hopefully he’ll get it, he lacks ‘it.'”"

Knowing that Vince has final say on the main roster it’s unlikely we will see any major pushes, but the fact that Cesaro is going into business for himself is definitely enjoyable to watch. Could he become the “face” of the company? Maybe, maybe not, but he is definitely being underutilized as an elite in-ring talent, and should be, at a minimum, a staple mid-card champion.

Last night at Hell in Cell, Cesaro was included in a 6-man tag match that was put on the Kickoff Show, yep, the Kickoff Show. The match itself really didn’t pick up until the end when, not surprisingly, Cesaro received the hot tag, and cleaned house much to the fan’s delight. Sure, it was the opening match, so the crowd was ready to cheer, but they do it whenever he shows up, simply because they know he’s going to put on a great match.

It’s no longer a question, it’s a fact.

Once the match was over, Ziggler was kind enough to grab another sign and bring it to Cesaro, while he was in the ring, and much to his surprise – and maybe embarrassment – he flipped the sign around, showing off “Hi Dan” instead.

With Kevin Owens as the Intercontinental champion and Alberto Del Rio, the brand new U.S. Champ, Cesaro could go up against either guy, and put on a show that fans deserve to see. So to Cesaro, keep pushing, keep pointing, and keep entertaining, because we, the fans, are behind you.
